*Job Summary*
* *
The*Hazardous Materials Director*provides oversight of all environmental laws, policies and regulations.
Assist in establishing guidelines to protect the health and safety of employees and the community by minimizing / eliminating the risk of environmental pollution. Act as the liaison between Contractor workforce and for HAZMAT issues in daily routine. Serve as contractor point of contact for collection of contractor generated HAZWASTE, preparation for shipping (i.e. palletizing etc.), preparation of all supporting paper for the disposal of contractor generated HAZWASTE in support of the Daily Flight Schedule. Specific to VX-31, ensure all contractor/military/government HAZMAT/HAZWASTE generated, to include any and all squadron sponsored taskings, squadron aircraft SE, and related maintenance actions are properly handled, collected, and disposed of per all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.


*Principal Accountabilities*
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)


* Performs regular safety inspections and surveillances, and formal environmental and safety audits to ensure contract requirements are met or exceeded.

* Evaluates violations or problems discovered during inspections to provide advice to management on implementing changes to be compliant with corporate and government EHS policies. Follows up to make sure they are effective and being followed by employees.

* Reviews the site-specific EHS plans and procedures to establish validity and any need for amendment.

* Investigates spills and accidents and prepares reports for submission to the customer.

* Investigates personal incidents and aircraft/vehicle accidents to determine root cause and any corrective actions to prevent a repeat occurrence.

* Manages and administers compliance with all federal, corporate and customer environmental protection programs including required OSHA specific programs.

* Recommends, implements, and assists in the execution of a variety of workplace safety, industrial hygiene, and safety training programs to prevent injury and occupational illness.

* Coordinates safety committee meetings. Produces and disseminates safety committee meeting minutes and tracks action items to completion.

* Monitors the use and storage of hazardous materials in the work place and researches the practicality of environmentally friendly alternatives. Monitors the generation, storage, and turn-in of regulated wastes.

* Responsible to administer the Environmental Protection Program and the Respiratory Protection Program.

* Collates the site Hazardous Material Report and Safety Report for submission as required.

* Performs other qualified duties as assigned.
*Knowledge & Skills*


* Knowledgeable of and have experience with applicable federal, DOD, state and local regulations pertaining to the protection of the environment.

* Possess knowledge of the principles, standards, and techniques of safety and occupational health management and have experience in planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating a safety and occupational health program for an entire command.

* At least one year experience in planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating a HAZMAT program for an entire command
*Experience & Education*

Minimum of six years practical experience within the last ten years in the management, administration, or operation of a safety and occupational health program or specialty, or experience in administrative work concerned with safety and occupational health activities, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of related program function.

* Minimum of two years practical experience within the last four years in the management, administration, or operation of a hazardous materials/waste program.

* At least two years of experience shall include receiving, storage, distribution and handling, and disposal of all types of material that may be utilized at the Contractor's job site.

* At least one year experience in planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating a HAZMAT program for an entire command

* Must be capable of routinely working in a harsh outdoor environment.
