Nursing Assistant Med Surge (PT/48) Tracy

A full-service acute care facility serving the residents of Tracy for over 50 years, Sutter Tracy Community Hospital has a total of 79 inpatient beds. The hospital provides Basic Emergency Medical Services in a 9 bed E.D., soon to be expanded to 15 beds, inpatient and ambulatory surgical services, medical surgical, telemetry and coronary care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory and rehabilitation services, including physical, speech and occupational therapy. Areas of specialized care include a Hemodialysis, Wound Care and Continence Center, and a Family Birth Center.

**BASIC JOB PURPOSE** : to providing direct patient care to meet the basic physical, safety and hygienic needs of the adult or geriatric patients. The nursing assistant/nursing aide must be able to recognize those patients at risk for injury or skin break down, and intervene appropriately, including notifying and updating the staff registered nurse, licensed vocational nurse, and charge nurse as appropriate. The nursing assistant/nursing aide will take direction from the charge nurse, staff registered nurse. The nursing assistant/nursing aide is responsible for notifying the staff registered nurse, charge nurse, clinical lead and manager of potential or actual problems and ensures the safety of staff, patient and visitors. They actively participate on unit committees, participate and promote Employee Opinion of Work activities, may function as a preceptor/competency evaluator and provide feedback to the staff registered nurse, charge nurse, clinical lead and manager. They will support Sutter Tracy Community Hospital Pillar Goals and Standards of Excellence by functioning as a six pillar team member. They communicate in a courteous manner using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain) model when answering and prioritizing telephone calls and respond positively to, nursing, physician, patient, family and visitor requests.

+ Current Basic Life Support certification required

+ Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.

+ The ability to get along with co-workers, peers, and patients; the ability to recognize potential hazards and follow appropriate precautions.

+ Ability to understand and remember detailed instructions.

+ Must have steady hands when performing.

+ Ability to perform Newborn Hearing Screen.
